As part of the听, the 桃子视频鈥檚 Mental Health Program, in partnership with the Qatar Foundation鈥檚 World Innovation Summit for Health听community initiative, began awarding fellowships to journalists in Qatar in 2016.听

Mental Health and Caregiving

In 1996, the Rosalynn Carter Fellowships for Mental Health Journalism program was created to provide stipends and expert training to journalists who report on topics related to mental health or mental illnesses. In 2016, the program expanded to Qatar.

Our Work and Methods

Journalists from Qatar travel to Atlanta to receive training and guidance on projects from experts and other fellows. Their participation is a result of a partnership with the Qatar Foundation鈥檚 World Innovation Summit for Health community initiative.

The goals are:

To increase accurate reporting on mental health issues and decrease incorrect, stereotypical information
To develop a broad cohort of better-informed journalists who can report on behavioral health more effectively across multiple platforms

Impacts

Journalists from Qatar have taken what they learned back to their communities to report accurately and effectively on mental health.
The resulting work has helped erase stigma and reduce discrimination.
